1/144 HG Gouf Ignited – Yzak Joule custom Review

Well its about time I updated. As you know the term tests are just around the corner. But thankfully due to our current timetable, we only have TWO exams to sit for. You heard it. TWO!!! However this doesn’t mean its slack and all for us. Cmaths and OOPG are to vital subjects key for our advancement. Its gonna be a big one this Wednesday an Thursday, but i know we can do it. >=)

Anyways as promised i shall be doing the MS kit review for the 1/144 HG Gouf Ignited Yzak Joule custom.

Gouf Ignited. The real deal. Impressive.

What can i say about this fair unit?  IT ROCKS. Seriously. I never really liked Goufs back then (the Zaku was still a top fav), but after purchasing this babe i realized it was actually pretty worth the money. I kinda say its better than a Zaku of any kind. Jus like any 1/144 HG of its kind, it is very maneuverable and offers a great deal of articulation. The gimmicks it comes with include a Beam sword (with 2 blades), a smaller sword which is stored in the shield, and two heat rods.. i mean whips. One is straight like it was shooting it out, the other curled like in a defensive stance.

Contrary to popular belief, its beam sword is not power consuming.

Overall its a very impressive unit as expected from the Millennium series. However like all great kits, there are flaws..

…and the first one encountered was with the beam sword. Kinda expecting this, I realize Bandai is never accurate with their measurements. The result was a saber that had beams two big for it. Its true. Some how the beams are abit bigger than the sword itself and this results in the beam ‘bending’ when its is clipped onto it, which is kinda unsightly. However this is pretty easy to remedy. If your using pliers or nail clippers u can trim off a tiny bit of the stud that connects to the holes on the sabers. Get it right and it will fit on nicely (though not tightly). Get it wrong and u might have to bring on the super glue. Trust me. I’ve been there. lolz.

The second flaw of the unit is that its front skirt cant turn much at all. Isn’t really a problem with other HG 1/144. Only for this guy which ultimately reduces frontal leg articulation. Strangely his side skirts can turn a great deal more than the front. But seeing as this is a model kit flaw, theres little tat can be done to amend it.

The last flaw is the wings on its back. The wings utilize metal rods that slide through it to act as hinges for it movement. Somehow the hinges are abit loose and has a tendency to fall out of place or even off sometimes. Not much to do to fix it however. Luckily if its not moved too often, its perfectly fine.

In the end i would rate this unit a 3.5/5

A good unit to look at and has plenty of armament options to change with and flexibility to compliment it. Ooooh! it also comes with a black stand which connects below it!

Oh ya, there is something else interesting. The Gouf Ignited wing pack can be seperated from the main body.

The result is something like the Gouf Custom from 08th MS team. Pity mine ain’t blue.

Kinda like the 08th MS team's Gouf Custom.

Kinda like the 08th MS team's Gouf Custom.

However Gouf’s are no Zaku. Duh. What i mean is they aren’t Wizard pack compatible as i found out.

However whats interesting is that the wing pack on the other hand is unexpectedly compatible with…

105...Windam?!

105...Windam?!

The 105 Slaughter Dagger. Yep, it is. The result is a Windam look alike. The wings clip on nicely to the back though its not firm enough.

The white Millenium series at its best.

Not exactly 'Palm Tiger', but its close enough.

lolz couldn’t resist. XD

Anyways, alot has been going on. Some things just wont die out. Either way the situation is under control. Todays lil’ maths lesson at the labs helped alot. All is left is abit of revision and I’ll be ready for the battle ahead.
Oh ya, Rhema 2008 is upcoming! ^^
